According to reports, the terrifying ordeal unfolded as Maphorisa and his crew left a performance in Vosloorus when an Audi A4 with unidentified assailants started shooting at their Mercedes bus.

The suspects initially fired shots from behind the bus before catching up to it and launching more shots from the front.

The attack left both Maphorisa and Kabza De Small injured and in critical condition. They were immediately rushed to Union Hospital in Alberton, where they fought for their lives in the intensive care unit.

DJ Maphorisa Recently Made A Brief Court Appearance

On May 7, 2023, Dj Maphorisa was detained after being accused of hitting his girlfriend, Thuli Phongolo.

She questioned him about an event that occurred the previous night, and he allegedly hit and choked her. He is now being accused of assault to cause great bodily harm.

The iWalk Ye Phara hitmaker made a brief court appearance at the Randburg Magistrates Court to answer a charge of gender-based violence.

Even though DJ Thuli Phongolo withdrew the complaint, the NPA has made it clear that it is ultimately up to them to determine whether to press charges and if the case should proceed to trial.

Maphorisa arrived at the court this morning early on a dismal Wednesday dressed entirely in black.
